The 13U ‘AA’ team took second place in the River City Classic baseball tournament held in Kamloops over May long weekend. The tournament was very competitive and consisted of 12 teams from BC and Alberta. West Kelowna played some great baseball and defeated Kamloops, Cowichan Valley, Edmonton and Victoria on their way to the tournament finals. Unfortunately West Kelowna came up short in the final game losing to a tough team from White Rock.
In an 8 team tournament hosted by West Kelowna the West Kelowna Pirates won the championship game on Sunday over the West Kelowna Cubs. The game was 2-0 for most of the game until the Pirates rallied for 3 runs in the 4th to seal a 5-0 victory. The Pirates would like to thank the tournament organizer Shawn Vodarek and all the volunteers who made the tournament a huge success. Congratulation to the players, Parker, Cooper, Cohen, Ryan, Pickles, Ben, Wyatt, Emerson, Matias, Hayden, Takoda, Mya and coaches Rich Swift, Shawn Vodarek & Jason Hromadnik.
In an 8 team tournament hosted by Osoyoos the West Kelowna Pirates won the championship game on Sunday over the Kelowna Pirates. The game was tied 3-3 until the last inning when West Kelowna’s bats got going and put up 5 runs to seal the victory 8-3. The entire weekend was a team effort with great pitching and strong defense. The Pirates went 4-0 in the tournament. A huge congratulation to the players, Parker, Cooper, Cohen, Ryan, Pickles, Ben, Wyatt, Emerson, Matias, Hayden, Takoda and coaches Rich Swift, Shawn Vodarek & Jason Hromadnik.

The official Lights On Ceremony was held Saturday night, April 21st at Boucherie Main Field. A game between 2 West Kelowna teams, made up of players from 15U, 18U and 18U AAA. Game started at 7:30 and was interrupted at 8pm for the official turning on of the lights ceremony. Mayor Doug Findlater, MP Dan Albas, counselor Rusty Ensign and the representative from Houle Electric were in attendance, along with other members from the City of West Kelowna. After speeches by the Mayor and Mp Albas, and Association president Tom Katelnikoff, the crowd in attendance counted down from 10. !!!! West Kelowna Minor Baseball would like to thank The City of West Kelowna and the Federal Government for their generous support of this project. The lights will serve will serve the players of WKMBA for years to come.
