2015 Opening Day A Huge Success (Photos Included)
West Kelowna MInor Baseball 2015 Opening Day was a HUGE success with one of the highest turnouts in recent years.
The weather definitely co-operated with temperatures in the 20’s. Games began at 9 am on all fields and carried on right through till late afternoon. The main field saw the 18U AAA team play against Ridge Meadow, while the 11U and 13U teams played on Upper Boucherie and Darroche. The opening Ceremonies took place on the main diamond at noon, with the introduction of the 2015 WKMBA Executive followed by the singing of O’Canada by Donna O’Brien. Mayor Doug Findlater was on hand to throw out the traditional first pitch. The Mayor received a WKMBA D-Backs jersey from the Association. After the first pitch parade of all teams onto the field for recognition and picture. After the ceremonies all the players and coaches were treated to a hot dog and drink! Thank You to everyone who attended and all those who helped make our Opening Ceremonies a success! Thank You to Zofia Abrey for setting up and manning our For Sale table. With the season now officially open the Board and Executives would like to wish all the players and coaches a successful and fun 2015 season.
